Report and Repair

Even with careful attention, you can still fall victim to identity theft. If it happens, there is help. Here’s what you can do:

Report all fraudulent activity on your accounts to any of the three reporting agencies:

- TransUnion – 1.800.680.7289
- Experian – 1.888.397.3742
Call the police. File a criminal report with your local police department
Contact your student loan lender, credit card companies and banks. Keep a record of your phone conversations
Ask your lenders, banks and the criminal authorities for help repairing the fraudulent activity on your credit report
